Sentinel was founded on the concept of teaching and training guides to be better prepared for caring for clients and managing emergencies. As parts of our world attempt to reopen guiding in remote places, Sentinel stands beside guides and guide services through this challenging process. Challenging times call for adaptability. Due to COVID-19, SOI has been working directly with guide services around the world to assess and mitigate risk and implement best practices to safely restart the work we all love. We are doing this with companies that guide in the most beautiful locations from the mountains of Washington and rivers of Montana, to Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti in Tanzania. Additionally, under a global crisis exemption, Sentinel has helped Wilderness First Responder guides maintain their certifications through distance learning that involves completing a written exam and one-on-one individualized review and evaluation.
